WAQRAPUKARA TOUR – ADVENTURE AND CULTURE
Tour Start
Between 5:30 and 6:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to start this experience to one of the most impressive sites in the southern Andes. We will travel approximately 3 hours to reach the charming town of Acomayo.
Stop in Acomayo
Upon arrival, you will have free time to use the restrooms, buy drinks, or snacks before continuing the journey. We will then board the transport again to drive for 30 minutes towards the community of Rinconada (3800 meters above sea level), the starting point of the hike.
Start of the Hike
The adventure begins with impressive views of the Apurímac Canyon and rock formations that indicate we are close to the archaeological complex. After a brief explanation from the guide, we will start the hike while appreciating the typical flora and fauna of the area.
Exploration of Waqrapukara
We will arrive at the majestic Waqrapukara, an ancient ceremonial site surrounded by stunning landscapes. Here, we will have time to explore, take photos, and learn about its history and cultural significance.
Return to Acomayo
After the visit, we will begin the return journey to Acomayo, where we will enjoy a comforting picnic lunch. Finally, our transport will be ready to take us back to Cusco.
